But Rita is no ordinary yogi, she’s a Ugandan refugee, who also happens to be a yoga instructor living in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. Rita arrived in Kakuma from Uganda in 2000 after fleeing conflict between a rebel group and the local community. Rita was only 7 years old. Rita took up yoga in 2019 through the Africa Yoga project. After completing her training, she started offering classes to refugees and humanitarian workers in Kakuma.
Bella is a Psychotherapeutic yoga professional and a Certified Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher. She is based in Mombasa and is honored to share the holistic effects of Yoga with anyone she gets to teach and/or engages with in wellness talk.
Catherine Njeri is from Nairobi, Kenya. She is a 500hr RYT and certified Africa Yoga Project and Baptiste yoga teacher. Catherine has been teaching, practicing, leading yoga Teacher trainings, Retreats and workshops since 2009 and is passionate about creating world class wellbeing leaders in Africa due to her personal experience of how yoga changed her life.
Nyakinyua is a trained counsellor, and certified yoga teacher, having taken her first yoga teacher training in 2014 with the Africa Yoga Project. Nyakinhyua found yoga during a time when she was experiencing emotional dysregulations and was seeking tools that could help with healing/growth.
Yoga came into my life at a time when I was seeking a deeper spiritual connection with my divine self.
Yriimo Mwaura discovered yoga in 2016 when searching for therapy to heal her back.
